Performed a few months back and featuring actors from the Booth Centre Theatre Company, AIR is a new performance set in the future. Another brilliant collaboration between the Edge Theatre in Chorlton and The Booth Centre

The year is 2121 and Dougal, a cog tightener on the AIR machine, goes to visit his computer uploaded Gran to learn about the place they called Manchester, in an area they called the North.

The Booth Centre is a community centre run with people affected by homelessness providing a warm welcome, an opportunity to belong, to gain a purpose and rebuild lives.  Their programme includes activities such as volunteering, creative projects and sports, as well as training and help to gain employment. They also support people to improve health and wellbeing, to access emergency accommodation, and to secure and maintain a permanent home. The Centre is run in partnership with the people who attend and they apply their skills and experience to influence strategic change.

In 2021 The Edge will celebrate its 10th year as Manchester’s Theatre for Participation. Their fabulous venue has entertained, captivated and enthralled audiences with some of the best small scale touring theatre in the country, alongside their own productions made by in-house creatives. Over the years they’ve worked with hundreds of fantastic actors and musicians; many are professional, some have learning disabilities, some have experience of homelessness, some are from the local community. As theatre makers we delight in creating shows which reflect the world that we live in, even if we’ve set them on the moon. They’re honest, relevant and always full of hope. As a Manchester Cultural Partner they play a vital role in the cultural offer of the city providing a range of great opportunities for people to be creative. At The Edge you can Act, Sing, Dance, play the Ukulele, Write, Paint, Draw or just be. The Theatre’s café is known as one of the most friendly and welcoming in Chorlton! Whether you’re a professional or community artist, a new-comer to the world or a veteran of it, participant or audience member, The Edge is your theatre and arts centre in Manchester.
