Vivre Le Rêve’ Collection, a French inspired range of pure linen fabrics by designer Zoe Glencross

I had the pleasure of travelling to France recently for an interiors shoot with Fabric Designer Zoe Glencross. Zoe has recently launched her Vivre Le Rêve’ Collection and chose to shoot the new collection at the sublime Chateau de la Ruche. The chateau lies in beautiful countryside some 30 minutes drive north of Le Mans.

When Zoe first had the idea of asking Rebecca and Tim of Chateau de la Ruche if she could photograph her new French inspired collection there, it seemed very much like a pipe dream. The odds were against us getting everything made in time, and, combined with Covid and Brexit challenges the odds appeared slim of making it happen. Yet, with meticulous planning and a gigantic van full of furniture, fabrics, cushions and lampshades, Zoe, Belinda, and myself finally set off on a mammoth 15 hour drive through wind and snow to arrive safely late into the night.

We spent two full days shooting a variety of sets in and around the Chateau and were treated to the warmest of welcomes, outstanding hospitality and incredible food from Rebecca & Tim. Our accommodation, over the four days was the self contained Gîte, tucked in amongst the trees, by the lake and wild flower meadow next to the Château potager. It’s known as  Maurice’s House and is one of the original outbuildings of the estate. Once home to a colourful character called Maurice, Rebecca and Tim have lovingly restored this beautiful old carriage house and turned it into a sumptuous place to unwind.

It really was fabulous and the memories made will stay with us for ever. If you’re looking for an incredible holiday in France do check out this amazing Chateau.

Their chateau is featured on Chateau DIY, channel 4 so look out for the new curtains one day!
