New fish pass at Cheesebottom weir, Yorkshire to improve fish migration.
Another job for Kite Projects, this time in Yorkshire, just north of Sheffield.
Cheesebottom weir, Thurgoland, on the river Don is another Yorkshire Water-led Larinier fish pass recently completed to bypass a large weir, (still in use for hydropower) providing passage upstream for trout, grayling and salmon. The Larinier fish pass is the most common type installed as it’s multi-species and the dimensions can be adjusted to suit a range of flow rates. It is also possible to design this type of pass to work as a canoe pass.
Again we used the drone to capture arial views as well as ground level pictures. We were even lucky enough to capture some fish!
